Houston, TX – Houstonian and avid Houston Astros fan, chef EJ Miller, who has made a mark on the Houston dining scene at top restaurants ranging from Coppa Ristorante Italiano to Riel was recently appointed Executive Chef of the upcoming International Smoke concept. The famed collaboration between Food Network star Ayesha Curry and celebrity chef Michael Mina, marks the third location of this concept, which will make its debut next month in CITYCENTRE. In this role, Miller will oversee day-to-day operations for the 200-seat restaurant, which explores global approaches to fire, grilling and smoke to create flavorful dishes.

Miller has kept close to his Houston roots by graduating from the Culinary Institute LeNotre in 2012. Following graduation, Miller joined Clark Cooper Restaurants and served as chef de cuisine for their concepts including, SaltAir Seafood Kitchen, Punk’s Simple Southern Food and Coppa Ristorante Italiano. He went on to work with the Treadsack Restaurant Group and the popular Downhouse restaurant in the Historic Heights, where he was instrumental in developing their popular day-to-night menu.
Miller can now be found running the kitchen at the newly opened The Sporting Club Houston where he is elevating the eating/drinking experience.
Miller was nominated as CultureMap Houston’s 2017 Rising Star Chef of the Year.
