Tony Luhrman began his cooking career in BBQ whilst attending college at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Throughout college and graduate school he worked in restaurants of every kind and traveled around Mexico, absorbing the cooking techniques and the culture. After graduate school, he spent several years working in technology, but constantly cooking and studying food.

After the birth of his son, Ezra, Tony left the technology sector to start El Topo, a hyper-local food truck that is committed to hand made food, seasonal produce, and responsible sourced meat. In three years, El Topo has garnered press from the likes of Houstonia, Culture Map, Eater, The Houston Chronicle, Edible Magazine, Local Magazine, Houston Press, and Paper City. El Topo has also won the prestigious Golden Cleaver at the 2018 Butcher’s Ball as well as the award for Best Traditional Taco at Tacolandia 2018.

You can find El Topo at the Urban Harvest Farmer’s Market on Saturdays as well as floating around town serving food at NASA, Shell, and the Downtown Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays.
